Repairs, and maintains county buildings using hand and power tools. Performs a wide variety of
activities including electrical, carpentry, painting, and plumbing tasks.
A. Performs a wide
variety of building maintenance tasks involving plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks
1. Make repairs to electrical systems in county buildings
by such means as replacing electrical
motors, testing equipment with Multi-Meters, repairing and replacing defective
breakers, wires, and receptacles
2. Perform emergency mechanical,
plumbing, and electrical repairs as needed
3. Respond to work orders by
performing such repairs as requested and completes work order form indicating actions
taken
4. Make routine and emergency repairs
to HVAC system and related controls
5. Paint and replace ceiling tiles and
grid when warranted
6. Hang and finish sheet rock,
paneling and doors
7. Perform routine plumbing tasks such
as clearing clogged drains, replacing washers and faucets as needed.
8. Assist with special projects as
assigned by Maintenance Engineer
9. Adheres to all safety and fire
prevention rules and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately
B. Participates in preventive
maintenance program
1. Perform routine inspections and
equipment checks as directed
2. Check and services motors, and
replace air filters as needed
3. Maintain records of repairs and
preventative maintenance performed on assigned equipment
1. Knowledge
of basic principles of building maintenance, including standard practices and methods of electricity,
plumbing, carpentry, drywall and painting and HVAC
2. Knowledge of
electrical systems, plumbing practice and HVAC systems
3. Knowledge of
materials and equipment necessary for maintaining county facilities
4. Knowledge of safety
rules, including accident causation and prevention
5. Knowledge of county
and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and rules
6. Knowledge of tools
and equipment used in building maintenance
7. Ability to complete
work order forms and equipment performance reports.
8. Ability to understand
mechanical reports, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
9. Ability to
communicate orally with co-workers, supervisor, and contractors
10. Ability to inspect, diagnose problems, and complete repairs in a timely and
effective manner.
11. Ability to understand
and carry out oral and written instructions
High School diploma or GED certification required. Ability to read and write in English and read
building plans, specifications and blue prints plus two years of building
maintenance work which included electrical, plumbing, and carpentry or an
equivalent combination of education and experience
